Day trip to the City - an often reoccurring event...
Instagram has been a favourite of mine long before Facebook bought the rights - I have snapped & snapped and have really enjoyed the process of transforming a very ordinary photo into something very different through filtering & layering. I haven't blogged any of them till now, as I have felt it's a cheats way to photography - really, it's done on an iPhone - no comparison to my Canon 600, but Instagram allows for creativity and loads of exploration, which is a whole heap of fun. The practicality & convenience is also an added bonus. When you're travelling by public transport into the city with 2 under 5, carrying colouring books, pencils, storybooks, jackets, snacks....the last thing you want is the extra load of a bulky camera. No room.
So for now, as long as I'm still snapping and manipulating amongst the busy-ness of my children, then it will keep me satisfied. Another good tool for photo filters that is web based and mac compatible, is Pixlr-o-matic. I have a wall in progress of filtered images that I have created using this program. I've enjoyed the different layering options, but like everything else, 'less is more' and the more options I have the longer my decision process is.
